In this two-day course, the participants learn how to use MORe for simulation of machine tools. They learn how to efficiently model a machine tool by means of a step-by-step tutorial. The agenda is as follows:

  1. Creation of ANSYS models for the use with MORe​
  2. Step-by-step creation of a machine tool model
  3. Analysis of the structural system
  4. Setting up axis controllers
  5. Analysis of the controlled system
After the course, the participants are able to autonomously
  • create a structural model of a machine tool
  • create a model of the controlled structure
  • use state-of-the-art methods for analysis

During this course, the participants learn how to systematically and efficiently characterise the dynamic precision and performance of a machine tool by means of a MORe model. This course covers topics like:

  • Synchronicity of axes in a multi-axis system
  • Dynamic tracking error
  • Maximum error evaluation
  • Limiting oscillation shapes

In this course, feed axis specific control theory is taught and the participants practice the theory with a MORe model. The contents are as follows:

  • Control theory refreshing
  • Control of a feed axis by a cascaded-loop controller
  • Velocity controller setup for optimal damping
  • Position controller setup for minimum error at the TCP
  • Implementation of a controller with a MORe model of a machine tool
